Welcome to the weblog (”blog”) for the Modern Languages Community of Practice set up to foster greater collaboration and cooperation between those involved in teaching modern European languages, literature and culture in Irish Higher Education. Originally funded under HEA’s National Digital Learning Repository project, this CoP has the grand ambition of becoming a self-sustaining community in the years to come. To start things off we aim to populate the repository with as much useful teaching and support materials as we can obtain from colleagues and therefore we’d be very grateful if you could get in touch with us if you have anything that you’d be willing to share. In addition, we hope to use this grouping as a focal point for news of events, conferences, workshops and for the discussion of issues pertaining to working in this field in Ireland. Please feel free to contribute to discussions and don’t hesitate to get in touch with us about any issue.
The Modern Languages CoP is being coordinated in this first year at least by the Centre for Excellence in Learning & Teaching at NUI Galway. Staff who will be providing the service are Labhaoise NÃ Dhonnchadha (ndlrmodernlanguages@nuigalway.ie) and Paul Gormley (ndlrmodernlanguages@nuigalway.ie).
More contact information and resources will be made available here in the coming weeks.
Best wishes
Iain
