The European vendors for Articulate Studio have agreed to give NDLR (and IOTI Flexible Learning) a purchasing model which means we can get 75% off the full price of Articulate Studio 2009 as opposed to the regular 30% (Educational) rate. A 75% discount means staff of all HEA institutions (and partners working on NDLR funded projects) can get a Articulate Studio license for $349.50.30 (approx. €260.00) as opposed to the regular price of $1398.00 for non-academic users, and $978.60 for academics. Elluminate is a user-friendly web conferencing tool that allows participants to interact in real time over regular Internet connections. Elluminate allows users to view PowerPoint presentations and share applications (i.e., Word documents, Excel documents, etc.) while listening and talking over the Internet. In addition, Elluminate allows users to chat online and transfer files at any time during the online session. All sessions can be recorded and archived and 25 users can be online concurrently. You will be able to record your session should you wish to. All the recordings created in the NDLR virtual room will be available using the link below. At the conclusion of a recorded session, individual recording links can be obtained from this page and distributed to users. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact the NDLR helpdesk - helpdesk@ndlr.ie Technical help On your first visit to the NDLR virtual room, you may be asked to download Java Web Start (if it detects that you computer does not already have it installed. Just follow the instructions that will show up in your computer screen to install Java Web Start. Make sure that you "Open" the file during the downloading process as opposed to choosing the "Save" option. Once Java Web Start is installed, close any windows left opened. Start your browser window again and point your browser to the above link (for moderator or participant) to verify that Java Web Start is properly installed in your computer. This is a once off installation. After your first visit to the online room, all you neeed to do is connect to the link (see above) If your computer operates under a firewall system, you may need to ask your Computer Services to open ports 2187 and 80 to unknown protocols for you. NDLR Video Conference FacilitiesHEAnet have setup a virtual meeting room (via video conference) on their MCU for the NDLR. This will be available permanently. To access, choose one of the following options: 1. The GDS number for the room is 003530110051202. Dial this number to connect directly to the NDLR virtual room 2. If you do not have GDS, you can call the IP address 193.1.31.196 and enter the room number 202 followed by the # key. 3. If you are using ISDN units and phones, you should call 01-4490889 and when prompted enter the GDS number 003530110051202 followed by the # key.
