WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
———————
Serious Games is an emerging topic. More and more fields in research
and industry are uncovering and engaging with the great possibilities
Serious Games provide with regard for example to employee training,
education, sports, medical science, tourism, society, aviation,
military training etc. Although Serious Games are known about across a
range of broad heterogeneous fields they have not in a formal way
reached the multimedia community yet. The aim of this workshop is to
initiate a Serious Game forum within the multimedia community. The
concept of Serious Games offer immense opportunity to change both
education, training, gaming etc but there is still a lot of room for
improvement in terms of gameplay, user experience, and integration of
learning content and learning goals. We plan to assemble various
disciplines in Multimedia to discuss how multimedia can offer
enrichment for Serious Games and what prospects Serious Games in turn
provide to the world of Multimedia. We will discuss questions such as
how alternative input and output devices are able to improve and
augment gameplay and offer new educational possibilities, how
innovations Multiplayer gaming can increase learning success and user
experience, whether game engines have the power to facilitate the
production of effective Serious Games, and how augmented and virtual
reality affect gameplay and user experience and more. Read more
